Milestone!

At 11 weeks old I was starting to worry about Henry's tummy time. He was still not a big fan of it and by three months his doctor wanted him to tolerate up to 20 mins of it. I started reading up on tips and ways to make tummy time more fun for him. It worked! I applied what I read and in no time at all Henry was not only tolerating it but having fun with it too! He's holding his up at a 90 degree angle with no assistance for longer and longer amounts of time everyday! Another milestone checked off the list! My baby boy is growing so fast! Next up, rolling over and sitting up!

A Traveling Man

Henry took his first mini road trip to Milwaukee when he was 4 weeks old for Anni and Randy's wedding. I was worried that sleeping in a hotel crib with different surroundings might throw him off schedule. I worried about packing everything he needed. I was worried about...a lot of things. But Henry was a champ and traveled like a pro.

At 10 weeks old, we took Henry on a real road trip up to Eagle River to visit with Kyle's family. 327 miles (to be exact)in a car is a lot for anyone but Henry once again proved to be a traveling man! On his first trip to Eagle River, over derby weekend, he got to meet lots of people, have his picture taken with the famous ice castle, and had lots of cuddle time with his Nana, aunties and uncles, and Grandma and Grandpa. Great Grandpa Hoppner also showed us his baby skills by soothing a cranky baby Henry. Henry's cousin Cole and Blake were so cute with Henry. They kept wanting to give him his bottle or his nuk or his toy. They are very good big cousins!

As much as Kyle and I like to travel, we're glad Henry seems to, at least at this age, be unphased by it!

Henry's Crib

Also, at our two month check up, our doctor suggested it was time to move Henry into his own room. Currently, we have Henry in a bassinet next to our bed. The doctor said that Henry would sleep better and longer in his own room. I disagree and simply am not ready for this move. I still get up several times a night, even when Henry does not, just to peek in on him. I check to see if he is breathing, a minimum of 3 times a night (I do realize this makes me sound like a crazy lady). Especially on the glorious, glorious nights that he sleeps through...I start to panic when I've slept more than a few hours and haven't heard anything from our lil man. I asked my brother, who's oldest is 13, when this worry stops. He said it doesn't! Great...For now, Henry can sleep in his beautiful crib for nap time as I watch carefully and intently from the video monitor!

2 months old

Henry had his two month doctor appointment last week. He's getting so big. He now weighs 12 lbs which is 75 percentile for his age and is 25.5 inches long, which is 98 percentile for height! He's a tall boy! Also at his 2 month checkup was his immunizations. It was so sad! The nurse had me lay him down and hold his hands while she administered the shots. Henry turned BRIGHT red, nearly purple, and SCREAMED! Louder than I have ever heard him scream. I felt like crying right along with him. Kyle watched from the sidelines. He decided he didn't want Henry to associate him with the pain and shots. Instead, he snapped photos of Henry and his purplish hue.
Once the nurse FINALLY finished (her nickname is definitely not speedy), I picked Henry up and cuddled him and he fell asleep almost immediately. Poor guy tuckered himself right out. Luckily, Henry didn't have any reactions to the shots and once he woke up from his nap he was back to himself.
I am definitely not looking forward to his next round of shots, that's for sure.

Just to See you Smile

Around five weeks old Henry started smiling - a lot! Its just so adorable! Kyle can get him to smile on demand by tickling him, making noises and dancing with him. Henry is so ticklish! He'll smile and laugh for me when I sing to him. I can't tell if he's laughing at me or with me...but it doesn't matter because I love watching him smile and laugh:) Sometimes he even smiles and laughs in his sleep- so cute. I'm pretty sure that even if I wasn't genetically programmed to love this baby, I would anyway!
